The Flagger was outside of Tenino for a few days. The first photo captures a moment on a January morning in the country, fog, sun, firs, and an eagle, soaring above. The second is deceptive. This was a dangerous work zone at peace for the moment. Systems (Underground) crew working a short stretch along the highway. Curves and hills make choosing a safe flagging position difficult. Add to that, drivers pushing 70 in a 50mph zone. The previous day, they had hit power and the work zone was jammed full of PSE, Potelco boom trucks, excavators, trailers, backhoes, crew trucks...and we were flagging in the dark, in an emergency situation. The Flagger motto: Do what you need to do, to get the job done. Everyone went home safe, so it was a good day.
